Council's Finance Committee holding public hearing on stimulus money

03/30/09

Cincinnati Council's Finance Committee is holding a public hearing Monday evening to talk about how the city will be spending federal stimulus dollars. Council Members Chris Monzel and Leslie Ghiz originally asked for a special Council session to discuss the funding. But instead settled on the committee meeting because it allows for more public involvement. Monzel says residents have a right to comment on how the stimulus dollars will be spent. He says he was asked recently what the stimulus money will be used for, and learned there's really not a master list of priorities. Some of the items mentioned include transportation projects, the streetcar plan and money for the riverfront park. Monday evening's special Finance Committee meeting is being held at City Hall beginning at 6 o'clock.
